How to Easily Add Captions to LinkedIn Videos

Back in 2017, LinkedIn embraced the growing trend of social video by enabling native video uploads, quickly followed by the ability to upload videos via the web interface. Since then, video content has become a powerful tool for marketers on the platform, turning LinkedIn into a hub for business-focused videos. But if you’ve been sharing videos on LinkedIn, you’ve likely wondered: should I add captions to my videos?

The short answer? Absolutely! Here’s why. When videos start playing on LinkedIn, they automatically do so on mute, and the first few seconds can make or break your engagement. User settings determine if videos auto-play in the feed, but regardless of those settings, they always begin on mute. In fact, statistics show that around 80% of social videos are watched without sound, meaning a huge segment of your audience could be missing out on your message. Captions help bridge that gap, ensuring that your content gets seen and understood, even when the sound is off.

That’s where we come in. At ZapCap.ai, our mission is to make adding captions to videos effortless, giving your content a better chance to shine on social media. With just a few clicks, our intuitive software allows you to add timed captions, trim and resize your video, include eye-catching headlines and progress bars, and add your logo for a fully branded look. Our goal? To make your video marketing as smooth and effective as possible.

How to Easily Add Captions to LinkedIn Videos

1. Create a ZapCap.ai account and upload your video

Our free plan allows you to sign up for an account and create two videos per month. Simply upload your video file into ZapCap.ai by clicking on the yellow Create New Video button in the upper right-hand corner.

ZapCap.ai automatically transcribes the audio from your file and generates timed captions. It’s not magic, but it’s close.

2. Trim your video

As soon as you upload your video, you’ll have the option to trim its length. Just use the sliding bar and click the Start Editing button when you’re done. You can also skip the trimming step altogether.

3. Edit your captions

ZapCap’s advanced speech-to-text technology delivers highly accurate captions, but for the rare tweaks you need, our intuitive editor makes it effortless. You can quickly edit grammar or spelling and adjust the timing of captions with a simple point-and-click interface. ZapCap also allows you to customize your captions with dynamic headline options, making your content stand out even more. It’s all about saving you time while ensuring your captions are polished and professional.

4. Style your video

Use our Templates feature to quickly style your video by selecting a pre-made template from the Default list (there are multiple styles and sizes).

Or fully customize and brand your video by going down the side menu and selecting every feature yourself. Add a headline, change text and background colors, upload your own custom fonts, fine-tune positioning, add a logo or progress bar, and more.

If you customize your own video styling instead of choosing a pre-made template, you can save all your settings as a custom template for future videos.

5. Download your new video

Select the download button in the upper-right corner to render your video and save it to your computer or device.

6. Upload your new captioned video to LinkedIn

From the home page of your LinkedIn account (via the web or mobile interface), you can upload your video directly into a new post. Just select your newly optimized LinkedIn video and click Post.
